Diamond Saturday

I have this amazing, low, long 1950's that I got off of craigslist about a year ago. I got it from some people who had ruined it with a metallic turquoise paint and a thick layer of polyurethane that oozed over the edges... Last spring when I first got this table, I spent a lot of time scraping layer after layer of paint and plastic and eventually sort of burnt myself out, and ended up putting the table out of site.  The other day I started chipping away at it again and with-in the past 2 days I have accomplished a lot!
I can't find my original photo of the table right now... but I thought I would just show a little progress that I have made!
These photos are how the diamonds looked when I stopped last spring, after 3 coats of paint stripper, and an electric sander.  Now, I have gone back with some little tiny tools, and loads of sand paper and REALLY cleaned this little baby up! I still have a ton of work to do... but I am really happy with it so far :)

Unreal Garage sale Finds.

This past weekend I had Saturday off and decided that I would visit a few garage sales looking for some goodies for my etsy, and low and behold I found some amazing things.

I found a few things for myself, including 4 old blue Mason jars, for only 1 buck a piece!
After making some conversation with the home-owners, the little old lady came over to me holding a huge jar and said 'This might interest you, its shark vertebrae.'
Yes... SHARK VERTEBRAE!
I couldn't resist.
So I bought a Gallon jar full of the stuff.
She had painted some of them black and red to make jewelry, but they were so amazing just natural that I was determined to get them back to it... I separated the natural ones from the painted ones, and began some cleanup!
Rinsed the natural ones with hot water, and vinegar to kill the smell.
And then drenched the painted ones in some diluted bleach.

I repeated it three times...
And finally they are back to their natural color.

Anyway.. I added some to one of the blue mason jars.
Gorgeous... right??

Let there be light!

I have been seeing a lot mason jar ideas online lately. There is something about canning jars that feels so homey and warm.
I have been looking for a way take these little cuties out of the cabinet and have them on display, so I made this little guy...

It was so simple, and I think it's really sweet.
What do you think?
