Terrier Tuesday!

Hello! I am excited about this week's Terrier Tuesday! A photographer friend of mine, Allyson Moyes, was over and took some really fun photos of Alabama and I.
She is an amazing photographer, and I feel pretty lucky that she took our photos!
Anyway, I hope you enjoy!

Dinner, Homemade (lime)Chili.

I don't know about you, but I have always hated chili.
I have also always hated  Cantaloupe, and Honeydew melon.
These are foods that I have always wanted to love! I see people eating them, and they loooove them!
And I'm not gonna lie, I get a little jealous!
Lately, I have been trying to pinch my pennies, and use all of the food that I have here, instead of buying new ingredients all of the time, so a couple of nights ago, I decided to try something new.
A homemade chili.
Well, a sort of chili, just with everything in my cabinets!

1 can of black beans
1 can of unsweetened corn
1 or 2 cans of diced tomatoes
-or 3 or 4 fresh tomatoes skinned and diced
1 small can diced chili's
1 whole lime
1 or 2 cloves of garlic, finely diced
1/2 of a large white onion, chopped
season as you like salt, pepper, chili powder
olive oil
optional:
sour cream
shredded cheese
cilantro

In a large pan, drizzle a little olive oil, and sautee the onions, and garlic until they have softened a little bit.
Add the rest of the ingredients in no particular order... turn the heat down a little bit, and let 'stew' for about 30 minutes.
The longer it sits, the more the flavors will come out....

Serve, and top with cheese, sour cream, and cilantro! YUM!

It's Terrier Tuesday!

How is it only Tuesday?!
I feel like it should be Friday already, don't you?
Work has been brutal the past couple of weeks.
I have had the same schedule for more than a year, and I can't get accustomed to it.
Every morning, at 4 am, my alarm goes off, and I think,
'is someone paying a cruel joke on me?
...because it's not funny.
You'd think that after a year, I would be somewhat used to this routine, but I'm not.
It's so rough!
Argh! Can anyone relate??
Any Suggestions?
I really think it's time for a change, I need to find a way to work for myself!

Anyway!
I thought since I haven't done Terrier Tuesday in awhile, that I would make up for some lost time, and post a few photos from the past couple of days!
Spring has finally come around, so I have been hiking loads, and spending a lot of time outside.
I really hate the heat, so I have been trying to soak up these days that are 70-80 degrees.

I need to frame a couple of these!
Don't you think??

Quarter Life.

I think I am having a 'quarter-life' crisis.
The daily sob fests, and these feelings being stuck are getting old.
I feel like I'm floating, like I can't get my feet on the ground.
Or walking on a moving treadmill.
Or like I'm in swimming out of quicksand.
Or something along those lines.
Like days on the calenders have been flying by, and while I am moving, I am not moving forward.
Maybe side to side...
But definitely not forward.
Anyway, I feel like I have a thousand things that I want to do with my life, but they are a thousand miles away, like they are completely out of reach.
Like I am supposed to living a different life, that's full of bright colors, and passion, and creative freedom.
I have all of these things that I am dying to do, but have no idea of how to get from where I am now, to where I want to be.
I feel like I am living someone else's life.  A life that is boring, and mundane, and stuck.
I only have one life to live, and I feel like I'm not doing it justice.
I am feeling a defeated.
And alone.

Is anyone else struggling? Fighting this uphill battle with me?

Swap Meet Sunday

Hello!! Happy Sunday!
I hope you guys had as nice of a weekend as I did, it was relaxing, and productive.
I 'freshened' up the basic look of my blog, I just wanted something that was clean, and crisp.
What do you think?

The weather has been a little... odd lately, and today was perfect.
The sun felt so toasty, and warm, it was like a breath of spring was in the air.
Ryan and I decided to go to the swap meet, and while sometimes I walk away with a bag full of loot,
today I only found two goodies.
I found a pair of shoe-forms, for my Etsy, and I had a lot of fun playing with the photos!
Wouldn't these be amazing as book ends??
I thought so..

The second thing I found was a flag tray.
I don't think this little goodie is very old, I am pretty sure it's a reproduction, but I still think it is great.
I thought it would be great with the coming summer months, and little get together's that we have!
How cute are those scalloped edges?!

Sleepy time Terrier Tuesday

Hello! I know it's been awhile since I have posted a Terrier Tuesday here on The Bears and the Bees, and I thought this was a perfect way to dive back in.

I don't know if all Bostons do this, but Alabama is a burrower.
I mean, really, this little girl will dig and dig until she is able to dissolve her little body with covers.
Often she will keep her little nose out so she can breathe, and make sure everyone can hear her snores.
But can I be candid for a minute?
I get a little jealous of her sometimes.
I will see her bundled up in a pile of clothes, or under some pillows...
And I think... if I could get even half as cozy as she is, I would have the best sleep of my life.
But alas, I am full size person, not a 15 pound ball of pup.
So I guess I will have to settle for my bed as my cozy spot.

After I noticed her waking up, and emerging from her little cave in my bed,
I said the 'W' word.
(yes, that means 'walk', but shhhh! don't let her hear you say that!)
She sat straight up, and was rip-roarin'-and ready to roll!
I love how excitable she, and most dogs are.
One simple word gets her right out of bed...
Like she has never been so excited in her life!

It's the simple things in life that make it so sweet.
